Penne with Meat Sauce

1 large onion chopped

1 package ground turkey meat

5-6 garlic cloves crushed

1/2 cup red wine

28 oz can plum tomatoes

2 T Worcestershire sauce

1 t sugar

2 t oregano 

salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup grated parmesan

1/2 box cooked penne

Saute ground meat, garlic and onion in large pan until turkey meat is no longer pink, breaking up the pieces as you stir. Next add the wine and let it deglaze the pan and simmer a minute or two. Add remaining ingredients. Use a wooden spoon to break up the tomatoes. Simmer for about an hour covered. Serve with penne (or other pasta of your choice). I added the penned straight from the boiling water so the water would thin the sauce slightly and 1/4 cup grated parmesan over the pasta prior to stirring it in the sauce which helps the sauce stick to the pasta better.

Note: This would be just as good and well paired the the Barbera if using ground beef in lieu of turkey.
